On August 19 and 20, the Cheyney University National Alumni Association welcomed more 825 family members to the Cheyney family by treating them to “A Taste of Philadelphia” in the Marcus Foster Alumni / Student Union Center.

Alumni from local chapters joined board members of the Student Government Cooperative Association, Inc. to host the welcome luncheon that featured traditional Philadelphia fare, such as: hoagies, Philadelphia pretzels, and Tasykakes.

CUNAA President Junious Stanton ’69 and Miss Cheyney University 2013 Janelle McKelvey ’13 were on hand to welcome parents and incoming students as volunteers helped serve families meals. The families were appreciative of the meal and took advantage of the opportunity to interact with alumni as students worked their way through a medley of registration stations.

Volunteers included Dr. Ann Adderley, Norma Avery, Sharon Barnett, Kathy Clark Benjamin, Evelyn Brown, Jasmine Carter, Malasia Clarke, Maxine Coleman, Kara Craig, Barbara Daniel Cox, Iesha Davis, Taliya Davis, Cheryl Dyson, Edith Ford-Bush, Tonya Freeman, Beverly Grice, Donald Hackney, Marion Haliburton, Marva Hawkins, Charles Highsmith, Gwynne S Hoye, Alexa Kirksey, James McKelvey, Janelle McKelvey, Rochelle McKelvey, Susan Micheal, Gregory Benjamin, Junious Stanton, Sonjia Stanton, Paul Turner, Patricia Walker and Edith Walker.
